Delaware Health Care Provider Loan Repayment Program

A state-funded program in Delaware offers medical school debt relief for primary care providers who agree to practice in underserved areas of the state for two years. The Delaware Health Care Commission (DHCC) is responsible for the administration of the program and may award education loan repayment grants to primary care providers who are within two years of graduation in specific specialties, up to $50,000 a year for a maximum of four years.

Delaware Academy of Medicine/Delaware Public Health Association Financial Aid – Legacy Program

The objective of the Delaware Academy of Medicine’s Legacy Student Financial Aid program is to provide tuition loans to Delaware residents studying medicine and dentistry and pursing a terminal degree of DO, MD, DDS, and DMD. These loans are interest-free during the time the student is in medical or dental school and repayment does not begin until graduation.

Delaware Health Force Financial Aid Loan Program

For 30 years, the Delaware Academy of Medicine has been a trusted private lender for Delaware residents wishing to attend medical or dental school. A portion of the APRA funding expands that program to include other degrees, including nursing and physician assistants, medical and dental assistants, and behavioral health professionals.

The program makes interest-free loans to Delaware residents attending Delaware institutions of higher learning who are willing to commit to a period of practice in Delaware after their graduation.

Loans will focus on students from areas disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, marginalized communities, and students who will be first-generation medical professionals in their families.
